Tomorrow I am attending a Guardian Masterclass entitled ‘How to be a science journalist with James Randerson.’ James Randerson is the Guardian’s environment and science news editor.
Over the past couple of years I have had a number of articles published in the science and environment sector of regional newspapers and international society websites such as National Geographic. Yet I am not a journalist. I adore stories and I love reporting big issues but I’m not entirely sure what I am doing, or what I need to be doing to create a news story that will sell. I work entirely from instinct and integrity, I like to think I know what makes a good story but it will be interesting to see if what I think is a good story is the same as what the newspapers think is a good story.
